Convenience Store Clerk

Reports To: Store Manager and / or Assistant Manager

Job Summary:

To operate the cash register efficiently and courteously in a manner that conforms to company policies and procedures.

List of Responsibilities

• Must be 17 years of age, 18 years of age in stores that sell alcohol
• Able to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Able to write routine shift reports
• Able to speak effectively before customers and associates
• Maintain a clean, well groomed appearance.
• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Able to operate point of sale equipment
• Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Able to regularly stand and walk; to occasionally climb or balance on a ladder; and to stoop, bend, crouch when cleaning and stocking coolers and shelves
• Able to Pass pre-employment drug screen (when applicable)
• Empty trash inside and outside of store.
• Maintain neat and clean appearance by the gas pumps which includes washing pumps, filling washer fluid, and filling the towels.
• Assist in temperature readings at appropriate times.
• Maintain the grand opening look for the store, which includes but not limited to the following:
  1. Provide first class customer service at all times.
  2.  Clean bathrooms and all floors within the store.
  3. Front all aisles, coolers, and freezers.
  4. Clean outside the store: pay phone, sidewalks, and empty trash cans.

5. Windex all cooler, freezer, and entrance doors as necessary..
6. Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1) Must have dexterity in both hands to be able to scan and bag store items properly.
2) Must have strong communication skills, to ensure proper customer service.
3) Strong mathematical skills required.
4) Must be able to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds up to 40% of the time and up to and over fifty (50) pounds 5% of the time.
